Grails Diary - Week 44 in 2015

02 November 2015

This, the 100th edition of the Grails Diary, brings big news for the Groovy language, new candidates for Sdkman and one of my favorite Grails plugins now available for Grails 3!

Groovy has passed the Apache Software Foundation incubator vote for graduation!. The next step is the ASFs next board meeting, which will have on the final decision. The initial Project Management Committee is set to be the following: Cédric Champeau, Paul King, Guillaume Laforge, Pascal Schumacher Jochen Theodorou, Andrew Bayer, Konstantin Boudnik, Roman Shaposhnik and Jim Jagielski. Serving as "Vice President, Apache Groovy" will be Guillaume Laforge. Great work by the Groovy Team!

One of my favorite Grails plugins: The build-test-data plugin, is now available for Grails 3. Thanks to Ted Naileid for creating it, and Aaron Long for upgrading!

Sdkman has really taken of this week, and is no longer just a Groovy enVironment Manager! New candidates on Sdkman are: Scala, SBT, Maven and Ceylon! You might need to run 'sdk selfupdate force' and/or flush the candidates.

Will Buck is the latest announced developper that will join the Grails team at OCI. They are really loading up on talent at the home of Grails!

Craig Burke sparked one of this weeks longest twitter flame-wars with the infidels that indent below a spock label. You can find the amusing Twitter Poll here
