Another week has passed and there are plenty of news, blogs, releases and meetings from the Groovy ecosystem!
The first release candidate for Gradle 2.8 is available on Sdkman. The release notes explain this release comes with performance improvements and some general enhancements and bugfixes. It also comes with an upgrade to Groovy 2.4.4 and Codenarc 0.24.1.
Javascript is not going away apparently, but Jorge Franco is working hard on the Grooscript project, leveraging Groovy everywhere. The latest example is a Ratpack app, using the Grooscript Gradle plugin. See the full example explained

In the latest edition of IntelliJ 15 preview, there is some support for Grails 3, and it appears Jetbrains are working hard to complete the issue, strengthening IntelliJ's position as leading Groovy and Grails Editor
The Groovy podcast now has a website: https://nofluffjuststuff.com/groovypodcast hosted by the No Fluff, Just Stuff conference series! The 20th edition of the podcast went on the air this week
Duncan Dickinson has completed a new Groovy book for beginners: Groovy 2 Tutorial, with 443 pages filled with text and examples. It is available at Leanpub, at a very reasonable price, and you can read it online for free.
This week the Groovy conference Greach announced the dates for 2016, so mark the calendar at April 8th and 9th; Madrid is the place to be!
The program for the Groovy Grails Exchange in London this December is under way; the first talk announced is Idiomatic Gradle—Recipes for Plugin Authors by Schalk Cronjé
